How to wash satin

Use a hand wash or delicates in a mesh bag cycle and mild, no bleach. The float threads that create the sheen snag easily. Wash it in a mesh bag and away from anything with a zip or hook.
Drying and ironing
Dry flat or padded hanger, out of sun. For ironing: cool, reverse side, with a pressing cloth.
Silk satin water-spots; polyester satin does not. That single difference decides whether spot-cleaning is safe.
How long it should last
Three to fifteen years, depending entirely on the underlying fibre.
